If we cast our minds back to simpler, pandemic-free times, you might remember the very successful ‘Screen on the Green’ free-cinema events hosted by NE1 in Newcastle city centre. Those screens, that many of us gathered around and watched films on long into the summer evenings or passed on our way to the shops or to work, were provided by our fellow North East England Chamber of Commerce (NEECC) partner and client, SmartOutdoor.
Headed by Managing Director, Mark Catterall, SmartOutdoor provides many innovative, ‘Digital-Out-of-the-Home’ (DOOH) marketing solutions, with a combined experience of over fifteen years in the industry. Despite the on-going pandemic, the business, founded in only 2019, has continued to grow much to the success of their newest innovation – smart sanitiser advertisement boards. Among many of their other marketing solutions includes digital advertising boards which have been installed across the North East, Teesside Airport, and the British Basketball League.
When we were able to meet Mark back in late 2019 at a monthly Chamber event, he explained to us some of the issues the business were having due to their rapid growth. They now found themselves in a tricky situation, unable to keep track of all of their stock efficiently, and similarly finding managing needed repairs and sanitiser top-ups equally as challenging. All of these issues, of course, due to their increased demand and continuing growth!
Uptivity Apps had a solution. We had an arsenal of innovative, affordable, and helpful apps at our disposal, that we were able to tailor into a bespoke solution for Mark and his ever-growing team. Included were apps that not only helped SmartOutdoor manage their assets, but also when they needed repairs, and collect user feedback. We were able to achieve this with the use of our QR-code tag technology; enabling both SmartOutdoor, their installation engineers, repairmen, and clients to track the movement and condition of stock with ease.
We were able to provide Mark and his team with all of the equipment and software needed for peace of mind and efficiency, including an additional tailored package to help with other aspects of his business management. As a result, Mark had glowing words of praise for our service and products, stating:
‘Not only did Uptivity take the time to look into what we were doing to offer us a great solution, but he also showed us a visionary roadmap of what Uptivity Apps can do for us in our future growth.’
Thanks to Uptivity Apps, SmartOutdoor and their clients can now not only track and service their devices but can also easily choose what ads are displayed on their different screens and at what time. The partnership between Uptivity Apps and SmartOutdoor as a result, exemplifies the best innovative technology that the North East have to offer, and the kind of growth a collaborative intra-region partnership can do for the local economy. As a result, SmartOutdoor and Uptivity look forward to continually working together in the future.
